RECAREERING FOR REDUNDANT STAFF

COURSE NUMBER: HR-08


OBJECTIVES:
This training / coaching program is designed for a special target group – staff members who have just been made redundant by their employer. Very often the employer provides some type of assistance to the departing staff as a part of a redundancy package. We advocate that they also consider one or more of the below transition assistance steps. The use of all three steps gives the departing employees the full support that they need to find a new job or begin a new career (if applicable). Although the situation is very traumatic for the people concerned, the use of this process has been welcomed by the employers and, more importantly, valued by the participants. Over 64 percent of the participants serviced so far have found a new career opportunity within 6 months.

CONTENTS:

Step 1. The Intake - Inventory
The participants are welcomed and given an explanation of the procedure. Then, each one is interviewed and assessed using the HBDI Premier Thinking Styles Method. HBDI, the Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument, is one of the most powerful, flexible survey tools available. It helps to understand our learning styles and techniques, mental diversity, as well as management styles and preferred and applied communication styles of each person. It also helps to enhance creativity and motivation while making hidden talents more transparent, so that occupational choices become more obvious.
 
Step 2. The Results – Proposed Action Plan
The results and analysis of the surveys of the first day are individually discussed with the participants on a ‘one-to-one’ basis. The participant and the facilitator then establish an action plan together.
 
Step 3. Guided Action Plan
The first steps of the action plan are initiated and a facilitator provides each individual participant with guidance and practical hints concerning the initial steps to take on the way to the newly targeted career path. This session also includes help with optimizing the employee’s Curriculum Vitae, advice on how to deal with recruitment agencies and a rehearsal of the job interview, etc.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:  Personnel who have been made redundant and who are being provided with transition assistance by their organization.
