DELEGATING EFFECTIVELY

COURSE NUMBER: MT-16

Course Objectives

Delegating effectively is one of the best ways to be successful as a leader. Managers who try to do everything themselves lose their focus and lose sight of the big picture. If you don't learn to delegate, you'll never have the time or energy it takes to do your own job and to help your team. A leader needs to work with team members to help them develop the skills and experience they need to move forward. When people are given authority, responsibility and accountability, they have an opportunity to grow. A clear understanding of how to delegate effectively can increase the success of delegation and build confidence for both managers and subordinates. Managing through effective delegation benefits all employees in an organization, not just managers. You know that other employees can handle certain tasks better than you, and delegating gives both managers and their staff the opportunity to master something new.

This training teaches nine steps that enable supervisors and managers to delegate effectively. Participants also assess their attitudes and current practices as delegators and, through experiential activities, explore how to communicate effectively.
