SELF-AWARENESS AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
COURSE NUMBER: MT-26 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Course ObjectivesIn order to be more efficient and effective, a manager must know his own capabilities and be aware of weaknesses that can affect his performance as a leader. Most managers have academic knowledge or professional experience regarding basic management principles and the variety of communication tools and techniques needed to be effective leaders. However, they often do not know their own abilities to motivate or communicate and may therefore not manage as effectively as they could. Experience has shown that our own character and temperament often influences our relationships with others and consequently how we behave as managers. The purpose of this training is to help small groups of managers to assess their own managing style (strengths and weaknesses). After an initial introduction to the topic, the participants will be required to complete a self-evaluation questionnaire and to discuss their own management experiences within the group. Then, through a combination of lecture and interactive discussion, they will determine what they, as individuals, must do in order to improve and develop their managing style and increase their level of performance. Course ContentsParticipants will review and discuss methods and techniques necessary to: - Define their role and their responsibilities in team management.
- Analyze their managing styles through use of high-level assessments and exercises conducted during the session.
- Determine the best manager's profile according to the characteristics and skills required by their organization.
- Analyze the gap between the skills required for their managing position and their own managing styles.
- Help each participant to develop their own solutions to improve their personal managing style.
